Leader Scraps to start & stop sewing

I know the usual method when starting a seam is to hold the two threads to stop bunching or fabric being caught in the dog plate but I think it’s awkward so I use scraps, they can be held with just enough tension to stop light fabric catching and heavy fabric sticking or sewing in the one spot.

I use them at the beginning and end each time unless I am sewing on a pocket, etc.
