Lack of inspiration

It must be old age, but I am struggling to find ideas for quilt blocks – and seem to have given up on shirts altogether, even though one (very nice) one is half finished.

So, I’m looking to the past for some ideas, I don’t have the energy to make complete quilts anymore (thank you, Ross River Fever, and the Mosquitoes who supplied it), but still love making blocks.

These are some of the past efforts. Sampler quilts are the way to go.

These were all completed, quilted and passed on to friends, or used as raffle prizes.

My display techniques leave much to be desired, these were before I had a hanging rail, and I never thought I would ever need to display them anyway.

The next two are used on our beds in winter, very early pieces and not perfect.

This one was for a special friend in the UK.

All the above were quilted on a Singer mechanical machine, I feel that computerised machines are too sensitive and easily upset, whereas mechanicals just to on forever.

These two are made up of 2″ squares, fiddly.

I shall start using the blocks on the sampler quilts, plenty of ideas there.

That’s it today, time to play with bits of fabric.
Regards,

  1. I often do projects that are very time-consuming – even if you can’t see it at the end – but your quilting looks like it takes ages. I admire your patience.
My only “quilting project” was a blanket on which I sewed pictures from a fabric panel. Sewn on, not with strips or something like that, as in quilting, sewn together to form a blanket.
I wish you a happy new year Will 🙂
